The Money screen

The Money screen is the financial view of your shop: a quick read on what’s waiting to be billed, what you’re owed, and what recurs year to year – plus a shortcut to start an invoice. It pulls everything live from your registry and work ledger, so it’s always current without any bookkeeping.

The three money-flow figures

Across the top, three cards answer “where do I stand?”:

  • Unbilled work – open, billable work you’ve logged but haven’t invoiced yet, plus any fixed-price project labour that has run over budget and is set to bill the overflow. It’s the money sitting on the table right now.
  • Awaiting payment – the total of invoices you’ve marked sent but not yet paid. This is what’s genuinely out the door and owed to you.
  • Recurring renewal revenue – your active re-billed services, normalised to a yearly figure, so you can see the baseline that renews whether or not you log a thing. This is renewal income only – it doesn’t include logged work, which is inherently one-off rather than recurring. It also shows the profit baked into those renewals – your markup over what the providers charge you. That margin is yours alone; the client never sees it.

Needs invoice

Below the figures, Needs invoice lists every client with open billable work ready to bill, ordered by value, with the oldest entry so nothing ages out of sight. Each row has a Create invoice button that drops you straight into the invoice composer for that client – so the screen is a to-do list, not just a report.

Recent invoices

A running list of your latest invoices – number, client, period, total, where it went (built-in, QuickBooks, or FreshBooks), status, and when it was issued or paid – with shortcuts to view them all or start a new one. For the full lifecycle, see building an invoice.

Where to next

  • Turn “needs invoice” into a bill: building an invoice.
  • See how re-billed services and markup drive recurring renewal revenue.
  • The Today screen surfaces the same “money waiting” as a daily nudge.
