Yven Help

Exporting your data

Your client book is yours, and you can take it with you whenever you like. If you ever leave, you shouldn’t have to fight to get your data out.

What you get

From Settings → Data, choose Download export (.zip). Yven produces a single zip that holds:

  • A JSON bundle – a complete, full-fidelity copy of your data, ideal for moving it into another system or keeping a faithful backup.
  • A registry.csv – one row per service, with the same columns the CSV import expects, so you can open it in a spreadsheet or re-import it elsewhere without remapping anything. Clients, projects, work history, and invoices are in the JSON bundle, not as separate CSVs.

The export covers everything you’ve built: clients, sites, services, projects, your task types, your whole work history (each entry with its task type’s name), and invoices.

What it never includes

Exports never contain secrets. There are no client passwords (you store pointers, not passwords) and no accounting-provider logins. Those live in the tools built to hold them – your password manager and your provider – and Yven doesn’t keep them to begin with.

When to use it

  • Backups – grab a copy before a big change, or just on a schedule that helps you sleep.
  • Reporting – open the registry CSV in a spreadsheet to slice your services however you like.
  • Leaving – should you ever move on, take the full JSON bundle with you. No hard feelings.
