Task types
A task type is a label for the kind of work you did. It costs nothing to ignore, and it makes your ledger, your invoices, and your clients’ shared log easier to read.
Your starter list
Everyone starts with six: Bug Fix, Content Update, Client Call, Design Tweak, Hosting / Maintenance, and Consulting. They’re yours – nothing is locked, so rename, recolor, reorder, or delete any of them and add your own.
Managing them
Go to Settings → Profile → Task types → Manage task types. From there you can:
- Add a type with a name (up to 40 characters, unique within your list) and one of twelve colors.
- Edit to rename or recolor – the change applies everywhere, including past work.
- Make default – the type that’s already selected whenever you log work. There’s always at most one.
- Move up / down to set the order of the chips.
- Delete – past work keeps its label. The entry simply remembers what the type was called, shown with a gray dot.
Where they show up
- Log work – a chip row; pick one, choose No type, or tap + New to add a type without leaving the dialog (it gets the next unused color; change it later in Settings).
- The work ledger – a chip beside each summary, a Task type filter, and a picker when you edit an entry.
- Invoices – each line is prefixed with the type, like
2026-05-10 – [Bug Fix] Fixed the header. - Shared work logs – your client sees the type beside each visible entry. If you’d rather they didn’t, log those entries with No type.
- Your data export – every entry carries its type’s name.
